Observing the Cause of Freedom
Hello Patriots,
Over the past few weeks, I have spent a considerable amount of time selling product at fairs and other events.
I really enjoy this time of year because I get to interact with fellow Patriots on a more personal level.
While I enjoy getting immediate feedback on our products, that is only a secondary benefit of these events.
What I really enjoy is hearing their stories, seeing their love for our country, and their dedication to the cause of freedom.
Here are a few things I have observed over the last few weeks:
Patriotism Seems to be Getting More Diverse
The crowd of individuals that are moving towards Patriotism seems to be growing more diverse – at least in my observation.
I am seeing more young people and even individuals who I wouldn’t normally expect to be patriotic showing interest in it – and maybe part of that is an incorrect judgement on my part.
I have always felt like freedom should be the unifying principle that brings all Americans together, and that seems to be happening.
With the train wreck we have seen in our country over the last two years, I would expect to see this movement towards freedom increase and gain significant momentum.
The Goodness of the Individual Patriot
The media is masterful at painting Patriots and their cause as harmful, bigoted, and destructive.
This is the exact opposite of what I see as I interact with them.
They are respectful, God-fearing, family oriented, and honest.
I realize this is all surface level based upon quick interactions, but I believe one of God’s gifts given to his children is that of discernment.
As I talked and interacted with them over the past few weeks, I could feel the goodness radiating from those individuals.
When we adopt true principles – of which I believe freedom to be one of them – it creates not only goodness in ourselves but also in our lives.
That goodness is seen and felt from those around us – I saw this firsthand over the past few weeks.
The Parents Pave the Way
This point is key!
As I asked many of the young individuals why they were patriotic, their response usually pointed back to their parents or a relative that had served in the military.
While there is no guarantee that children will follow the teachings or interest of their parents, I do believe it is foundational.
As I saw many parents and their kids come to buy our products, I could see from those conversations they were having, that freedom was a principle that they both loved – and that love was creating a powerful bond between them.
I was very hopeful as I saw these young adults respond positively to this cause of freedom.
It reminded me just how important my job is as a parent if I want my children to grow strong in their love of and application of true principles.
Final Thought
I am optimistic about where the cause of freedom is heading.
But, with that being said, there is a great deal of work to be done – and it is going to take each of us doing our part.
Freedom really is an amazing principle.
I am convinced that the more we can apply freedom to every aspect of our lives; the stronger we will be as individuals, families, communities, and as a country!
