The Afghanistan Withdrawal Debacle

Hello Patriots,

I am sure many of you are just as sick as I am with what we are witnessing in Afghanistan.

Here are a few of the things that have been haunting me over the last week or so.

Our Veterans

I have seen many veterans share their dismay for how things have gone.

Many of them served in Afghanistan.

Many lost one of their fellow soldiers – some lost many.

Each of them brought back physical and emotional scars that will be with them forever.

It is these veterans that my heart really goes out to.

I for one want all of them to know how much I appreciate their service.

It was not in vain – even though it may feel that way right now.

Just know that true-blooded-Americans support you and your service there.

We are forever grateful – as I am sure the Afghan people are as well.

Our Country

The world has depended on the strength of the US to help curve the spread of evil.

With such weakness on display – by our government leaders – it is giving courage to bad actors around the world.

I worry about the ramifications of this globally.

This is not the values of the United States.

We are the beacon of hope, and it just doesn’t feel like that right now.

I know the goodness and strength of its people, and our leaders are not representing that right now – and it’s infuriating.

I hope we see the safe return of every one of our American citizens from Afghanistan.

Christians and the Good People in Afghanistan

Many reports this week came out about how the Christians and those who helped the US are being targeted and killed.

It really hit me as I look at our lives here in American.

While we all have our struggles, it is hard us to fully understand the fear of being alone in a hostile country.

As a father, I can’t image being stuck in my home worried about how I am going to protect my wife and kids from the savage evil all around me.

The videos of parents handing their children over barbed wire fencing is heartbreaking. 

I can't imagine being in that situation.

Many are less than a few miles from the airport - but it is too dangerous to even go that far.

I take hope with the many organizations – like the Nazarene Fund – who are raising money to help save these fellow Christians.

It also reaffirmed to me that we need to do more to help our own citizens and veterans in our own country.

This last week has been humbling.

When it comes right down to it, it’s the help that we extend to others in need that really matters – and makes us who we are.

Many of the things I worry about are really not that important when put it into its proper perspective based up on the evens of this last week.

There are major struggles out there and I know I can be doing more to help – and this past week helped reaffirm that.

Afterall, that is why we started 1911 Apparel - and we are happy about the progress that is being made toward that goal of extending help to others.  

Conclusion  

If you are upset by what you are witnessing, you are not alone.

The world around us is seemingly making less sense by each passing day.

There are many arguments that it was time to leave Afghanistan – and those are valid.

I don’t necessarily disagree.

What I disagree with is how it unfolded.

It feels like a slap in the face.

But I take comfort in knowing that those voices don’t speak for the rest of us.

What we are seeing is not the American Way.

It further confirms to me that it is time for good people to let their voices be heard.

Stand for truth and good in your homes, neighborhoods, and communities.

We can all be that beacon of hope in the areas where we can have the most impact – and that starts in our own homes.

Say a prayer for our military, citizens who are evacuating, those good-hearted people of Afghanistan, and our Country.

It’s only by the Providence of God that we can make it through this and come out the other side stronger.
