Hello Patriots
I was going to write about this radical teacher from Utah in last week’s email, but for obvious reasons, Afghanistan took priority.
I am still devastated by what is happening there – as I know you are.
I woke up yesterday morning to find out that my dear friend lost her best friend in Afghanistan a few days ago – he was the solider from Utah that was killed in the Kabul Airport bombing.
I had a veteran reach out to me after the email last week and offered his number if there are any veterans or individuals in this community who need to talk with someone about what is unfolding.
Please reply to this email if you’re a vet and want to be connected with this individual.
This offer to visit with any struggling veterans is why I have so much respect and admiration for this patriotic community.
It is painful to see this loss of life – especially because it didn’t have to be this way.
Thoughts and prayers with all affected by what is happening.
The Radical Teacher from Utah Exposed
I am sure many of you saw the video of this radical teacher from Utah.
This hit close to home – literally.
This school is about 20 miles from where I live.
You have heard me talk about how desperately parents need to get involved in what is being taught to their children.
I have a fairly high tolerance when it comes to the nonsense I can handle.
But, when it comes to individuals trying to have a harmful impact on my kids, that tolerance drops to zero.
What This Teacher Said
There were many things she said in the video that I disagree with.
Most of the points she touched on we have spoken with in detail to our kids.
The point I have the most contention with were these comments:
“Most of ya’ll parents are dumber than you. I’m going to say that out loud. My parents are freaking dumb. The minute I figured that out, the world opens up. You don’t have to do everything your parents say, and you don’t need to believe everything your parents believe.”
As a parent, I feel a great weight and responsibility when it comes to raising my children.
When someone sets out to drive a wedge between us as parents and our kids, they have become the adversary.
As a religious person, I believe the home is the foundation for how we as individuals and families fight the evil that is in this world.
It is at home that we build our strongest bonds.
It is where we learn truth and build who we are.
The family is the most important unit in society.
And I will do anything I can to protect my children and my family.
I was pleased to see that Utahans felt the same way that I do.
We are a very family-oriented society here in Utah, and you can image the firestorm of upset parents when this video went viral.
This teacher was removed from her teaching position the next day.
You Cannot Control Everything Your Kids Hear
I have thought a great deal about how we prepare our kids for this inevitable onslaught of untruth they will encounter throughout their lives.
I firmly believe that if we are not teaching our kids truth before they hear it elsewhere, then we are losing the battle.
When individuals are taught truth, that foundation is in place for whatever may come.
If we try to shelter our kids from differing opinions, we are prohibiting their ability to critically think.
I don’t mind that this teacher had different opinions and beliefs.
What I do mind is that she was in a position of authority and was abusing that authority to bully and intimidated.
I don’t like that she was supposed to be teaching chemistry and instead thought it her duty to indoctrinate.
This is the battle we are up against as parents.
We must be proactive with our kids in what we teach, because those who are trying to teach them untruths are taking every opportunity they can.
Get Involved
Now is the time to be very involved in what is being taught in your kids’ schools.
Get to know the school board and what their position is on differing issues.
Open up a dialogue with your kids so they are discussing with you what is being taught.
When you see something that is amiss, let your voice be heard.
I have read messages from the parents of the students in this class, and I can tell these kids had a good foundation in place.
They knew what they were hearing was radical and untrue.
The better we can do at teaching our kids and exposing the untruths they will hear, the stronger they will stand in the face of it.
We have a lot of work to do if we are going to undo the radicalization that has been allowed to take place in our lower and higher levels of education.
It all starts now.
Teach your kids truth and they will be better prepared for what is headed their way.
The time to plant these principles in their minds is right now – not after they are targeted with radical teachings.
Some could contend that parents who take this approach are no different than these teachers who are trying to indoctrinate.
I very much disagree. That is my responsibility as a parent.
The powerful thing about truth is that it doesn’t have to be forced upon somebody – it stands on its own.
"Teach them correct principles and let them govern themselves."
The teachings won't have the correct impact if they are being threatened, compulsory, or untrue – and that is where this teacher in Utah went amiss.
She missed that very important truth - and we as parent must not make that same mistake.
I will go into more detail on this topic next week – unless something more pressing comes up.
Thanks for reading, Darron Rowley
